Football remains a very popular activity among the children and we cater for different age groups across the school as part of our clubs' provision.
- Tuesday
- We are fortunate to be able to draw upon the skills of two coaches from Top of the Hill Celtic to take a group of children from Year 5 upwards. The emphasis here is on fun, skills development and healthy living. Many of these children go on to represent the school and have already been successful twice this year in bringing trophies back to school.
- Thursday
- Maiden City Soccer - we have had a long-standing partnership with this group of coaches who work with children from Year 3 upwards. Each session sees about 30 children out playing mini games and developing their sense of teamwork, while always having fun.
Our school team competes each year in the Derry Primary Schools League which has now thankfully moved away from full lenght games on full size pitches to mini games held on 4g pitches across the city. This allows children to develop their skills in a more appropriate way and it has proven to be extremely beneficial and popular among those competing.
